You denied it, you blamed it on the guy/girl sitting next to you, you even claimed it was your grandma when she wasn’t around to defend herself. Most of the time, it smells bad and even sounds funny.

Yesterday I was with a friend of mine, and for almost 12hours we spent together she was farting all the way. It wasn’t funny as she was constantly spoiling the air and laughing about it. Yes! I have nothing against farting because I know its a natural thing for one to fart, but farting excessively I mean continuously was a little bit disturbing.

Farting is often something laughed about but excessive flatulence can be embarrassing and can make you feel uncomfortable around others. However, it can usually be controlled with changes to your diet and lifestyle.

Flatulence, also known as “farting” or “passing wind”, is the passing of gas from the digestive system out of the back passage. When you swallow food, water or saliva, you also swallow small amounts of air, which collects in the digestive system. Gases can also build up when you digest food.

The body needs to get rid of the build-up by farting (flatulence) or burping (belching).Sometimes, you may not notice you have passed wind because most of the gases are odorless and are often released in small quantities. Flatulence usually only has a bad smell if it contains gases that smell, such as sulphur. However, it is important to remember that it is normal for the gas you pass to sometimes smell a bit.

Excessive flatulence can be caused by swallowing more air than usual or eating food that is difficult to digest. It can also be due to an underlying health problem which affects the digestive system, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Foods that cause flatulence are generally those high in certain polysaccharides, particularly oligosaccharides, such as inulin.

Inulin belongs to a class of dietary fibers known as fructans. Examples include:

Beans

Cabbage

Cashews

Dairy products

Garlics

Oats

Onions

Potatoes

Sweet potatoes

Wheat

Yeast (in baked products, such as bread)

Excessive flatulence can usually be controlled by making changes to your diet and lifestyle, such as:

1. Avoiding foods known to cause flatulence

2. Eating smaller and more frequent meals

3. Eating and drinking slowly

4. Exercising regularly

These are some ways to control farting. Please try and help yourself and also help us. Don’t eat horrible things, dress to kill and then come out to start messing up the air.

I hope I have helped by writing down these. The topic may be funny to some people, but believe me farting in a public place is not a good thing!
Please, don’t go about spoiling the air.

Be Enlightened! Be Inspired!! Be Motivated!!!
