YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS:
You can find Valentine’s skull in Rome.
The flower-adorned skull of St. Valentine is on display in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Rome. In the early 1800s, the excavation of a catacomb near Rome yielded skeletal remains and other relics now associated with St. Valentine. As is customary, these bits and pieces of the late saint’s body have subsequently been distributed to reliquaries around the world. You’ll find other bits of St. Valentine’s skeleton on display in the Czech Republic, Ireland, Scotland, England and France.
Yeah! Excitement in the air… The gift shops are making huge sales with people trooping in and out to get all sorts of gifts for their friends, spouse, partners, kids, neighbours, the motherless babies, widows, the sick and bedridden etc.
I accompanied a friend to sweet scent a perfume shop on Wuse 2 Abuja to get a perfume for her man and was shocked at the sort of crowd there. I usually go to that same shop to buy my perfumes and colognes but I have never seen such number of people at a time in that shop. We left “sweet scent” to “celebrations” a gift shop just two houses away and the place was just like an open market. The customers were too many. Different people were buying different things from cakes to cards to flowers, chocolates, teddy bears etc. I felt the excitement. One lady walked up to me and asked me to help her choose a card and another mad also asked me to help him choose a perfume for his dear wife who according to him, I look so much like.
Its St Valentine’s day again. A day mapped out to celebrate a CHRISTIAN martyr who was known for showing so much love especially to the less privileged and destitute in the society and around him. Now, it doesnt mean we must wait till the 14th February of every year to show love. Love is something that should be shown and practised at all times. But this day was mapped out to celebrate ST VALENTINE.
Lets all be part of this celebration.Though it seems we have just narrowed it down to just ROMANCE which isnt that right. We should take time to also remember the sick, ill, less privileged, the needy etc around us and make them feel good by sharing with them. Yes, we do that always ( I can hear someone murmur)… But its not bad if we still do it today.
Most importantly, we should all have fun today, be merry and enjoy with our friends and loved ones. Luckily, this year’s St Valentine’s day fell on a Friday making it more interesting.
Lets make merry! Share LOVE!! AND show LOVE!!!
How will you spend today and what should an ideal St Valentine’s day be like? Does the question, “who will be my Val” make sense?
Be Enlightened! Be Inspired!! Be Motivated!!!
